Certified Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer
I was a Personal Trainer in Rochdale and the surrounding areas for well over 18 years, before moving to Camaes Bay in Anglesey in 2021. In that time I gained a lot of knowledge and experience working with some amazing people within the fitness industry and my clients. Below I have written a little about my journey.

I was a late bloomer as far as exercise is concerned, I didn’t grow up in a family that was sporty or encouraged physical activity, in fact even now most of my family think I am totally insane! What changed I hear you ask, well I had a baby rather a big baby for my petite size which, during delivery, resulted in severe damage to my back.
The damage was so serious that I had to have physio to learn to walk properly again. I then made a decision that I could do one of two things, I could stay home immobile and let my back pain dictate what I could do or, I could take control, manage the pain, and get on with my life.
So I joined a gym and started exercising. I didn’t really know what I was doing but I was moving. I went on to have a second child who was delivered without any of the trauma of the first one and this was put down to the fact that I was a regular exerciser. I continued to exercise on a regular basis at the gym.
Then I think I must have had my mid-life crisis. At 40 I set a goal. I was going to enter the Great North run. It was time to get serious, so I got myself a personal trainer. I completed the run in 2004 and started to retrain as a Personal Trainer. In 2006 I was fully qualified; teaching 11 aerobic classes a week and still running.
By 2010 my back was starting to trouble me again, the pain when I STOPPED moving was horrendous, sitting & sleeping was uncomfortable. So I took a course in exercise for the management of lower back pain and retrained in Modern pilates. Doing the back and core exercises has helped no end I am now relatively pain free. I do not wish to mislead you, I have no cure for back pain, but I have found ways to manage it, in order that I can carry on with the job I love.
